REMINDER: OXFORD V READING QUADS MEETING PLUS DIRT TRACK FINALE AT STADIUM TOMORROW!
Latest from All-Terrain Events:
The very first British Dirt Track Championships will end its inaugural season where it began at the Oxford Stadium on Friday 14th October, with an exciting mix of action.
One feature many people are looking forward to is the Oxford V Reading Quad team event with two teams of competitive racers doing battle for the Thames Valley Trophy.
The Oxford side is led by in form Welshman Ben Richmond who has shown great speed at the Cowley circuit this season. Richmond will be leading an eclectic mix of youth and experience but it is the young chargers Aaron Pole and Shaw Roberts who could be the trump cards. Pole has been impressive in the last 2 rounds of the QRA British Quad Oval championships and at 17 years of age is capable of mixing with the top boys and taking points. Another one for the future and could be an Oxford ace in the pack is 16 year old Shaw Roberts who scored an impressive 9 points in his QRA British Oval debut last time at Cowley. Local racer Simon Crook will have the home fans cheering him onto glory.
Legendary Quad racer John Elliot captains the Reading side which has no less than 4 Reading based racers in their side including Elliot himself. QRA British Oval championship runner up Danny Smith will be looking to be leading the scorers for his local side while Quad X racer Edd Giddings from the town is intending to make an impressive dirt track debut representing his team. Another local racer will be Mick Hall who ended the QRA British Championships in 13th position
The M & S Truck Rentals British Solo Dirt Track Championships is being led by 9 points by Chatham based racer Dan Berwick who goes into this final round with 18 wins in a row around the Oxford Circuit. Young Ben Millichap lies in 2nd place of the championships, and has led Berwick on a couple of occasions but to no avail with Dan being able to pick him off each time. Millichap will be hoping to put this right and gain the extra points to take the title.
The evergreen Giles Dismore will be looking to secure the points to earn him an overall rostrum place finish. Dean Hillier, from Bournemouth who was stuck in traffic at the last round has pledged his intent to feature highly in this round and he too has had his nose in front of Berwick without being able to finish the job. Another Bournemouth based rider who made a decent debut in round 3 is Mike Cherrott and he will be a contender 2nd time out. Amateur speedway maestro Mike Gittings will be making his Dirt Track debut and his shale skills could see him become a challenger. Other riders were still to be confirmed as we went to press.
Again Mini Bikes and Dirt Track MX classes will add to the spectacle with some names familiar to speedway and grasstrack supporters expected to take part.
Turnstiles open at 6pm with the first race taking place at 7pm. The Oxford Stadium offers great viewing from the terraces or from the Glass front Bar area with hot and cold refreshments on sale.
